Chris Nowak

Chris has held a wide variety of jobs in computers. Before coming to college, Chris spent two summers interning at Johnson Controls in Industrial Design, where he worked mainly with 3D and Flash animation. In the summer of 2005, he went to Utah and did research in Image Processing at Utah State University. During the summer of 2006, he interned at Alticor, Inc., where he designed and created applications in JDEdwards for the IT Department. Throughout his college career he worked as a tutor, lab assistant, grader, and researcher at the Computer Science department at Grand Valley.

Chris' skill set is shaped around web development and programming. He has also worked a extensively with database development, object-relational mapping, and has some experience with 2D and 3D graphics.

Chris is skilled in Web-related programming languages, including C#, ASP .NET, javascript, Flash, Flex, Actionscript and SQL for SQL Server 2005 databases. He is also experienced with declarative languages such as XML, HTML and CSS. Previously, he has written code in C, C++ and Java. He also has some experience with the Maya, 3D Studio MAX and Rhino.

In May 2007, Chris graduated as a member of the Honors College from Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. During his senior year, he was recognized as an outstanding senior by the school of computing and information systems department at Grand Valley. He was also on the dean’s list for seven semesters.

Outside of work at Elexicon, Chris is taking more classes at Grand Valley and is heavily involved with Alternative Breaks, an organization that sends students on service-learning trips around the country. Recently, he was able to use some of his experience at Elexicon to build the organization a new website. Additionally, Chris is addicted to traveling and spent five weeks studying abroad in Australia during the summer of 2007.
